Tidelands is a partnership between Engineering with Nature (EWN), Auburn University’s Landscape Infrastructure Design Lab (LIDL), the University of Virginia’s Natural Infrastructure Lab (NIL), and the University of Pennsylvania’s EMLab.
The project aims to understand what forms of natural infrastructure are possible in the nation’s bays and estuaries, identify which forms are most desirable, and translate that knowledge into principles that drive natural infrastructure design innovation.
We are assembling our roster of project sites and
partners through winter 2024-25. The three following years will focus on design research and assessment, running through fall 2027.
The project aims to conclude by fall 2028.
